November 2005

November 22 - Hello from Mackinac Island, Michigan, USA!
I'm hoping someone will pass this email along to Sharee Newman if possible. She worked on Mackinac Island this summer and expressed interest in being added to my newsletter list. I gave her my email address and she was to email me with her address but I'm now thinking she may have misplaced mine.

If possible, could you please forward this email to her so she could let me know if she wants to be added to my list? Thank you very much.

Mackinac Island, Michigan USA.

November 1 - Hi! My name is Rachael Gerard. I'm 18 years old and I live in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. I play for the Carolina Polocrosse Club, which is coached by World Cup player Ryan Murphy. Horses have always been a big part of my life. I grew up in Pony Club, and my main focus was Three Day Eventing…that was until I learned Polocrosse! Shortly after discovering Polocrosse, I handed over my Eventing horse to my sister and I made Polocrosse my main sport. I graduated high school in May of 2005 and I am now in college pursuing a Nursing degree. I have always wanted to live abroad and I feel that this is the perfect time in my life to make that dream come true. Australia is the place that I would most like to go to, preferably New South Wales, the Mecca of great Polocrosse!

I am hoping to find an active Polocrosse family that would be interested in hosting me. Ideally, I would like to find a situation with a Polocrosse family that would trade my labor and services for room, board, use of a horse and transportation to practices and carnivals. I am a C-3 Pony Clubber and I have a farm of my own, so I am familiar with hard work, farm management, horse care and training. I also have a lot of experience in child care, from infants (my mom is a midwife) up to school age, and have had several nanny positions. I would like to arrive after the New Year and stay through the end of May 2006.

I grew up outside the US mainland, in the Caribbean, and have traveled all of my life, so I am very comfortable in new surroundings. I am social, easy to talk to and make friends with no trouble. I'm an "easy keeper", don't have any food allergies and eat most anything. I even cook and clean!

For more information please contact me at or (843)224-8292. I would be happy to provide references from our USA Polocrosse community as well.

Sincerely,
Rachael Gerard

October 2005

October 19 - Hi Craig,

Thank you for posting our request (Public Notices September 19th) for a visiting player on your site. The response has been absolutely overwhelming. We have had in excess of 60 applicants from all over the world.

Whilst we have personally answered each and every application, it has been incredibly hard to knock back so many enthusiastic players. We have been incredibly impressed by the calibre of reply we have received and it only further instils my faith in the direction this great game is heading.

To see so many keen players scattered across the globe I can only but imagine how far the game will spread over the next 10 or so years.

Ideally, we would like to offer the same opportunity again in 2007 so if any of your viewers are interested please feel free to contact me. Obviously I will provide more information as 2007 approaches.

Craig, we eventually settled on an 18 year old player from Zambia who will be joining us in early January for the season. Both myself and Peta are very excited and can't wait. I am sure we will have quite a lot of fun. I would be grateful if you could post this information to your site to ensure people reading the previous post are aware we have completed the selection process.

Once again Craig, thank you for your support and thank you to the many people who either applied or referenced potential candidates. If I can repay the favour in any way or should any of you have any polocrosse related questions please feel free to ask I will do my best answer or at least find someone who can.

Kindest Regards
Jeremy Marriott

September 2005

September 19 - Jeremy and Peta Marriott are avid polocrosse players playing in Victoria, Australia. Peta and Jeremy are keen to extend an invitation to interested players to visit Victoria and spend a season playing polocrosse in Victoria in early 2006. The Victorian polocrosse season starts in January and finishes around May however the opportunity may also be there to travel interstate into New South Wales and South Australia, in essence, extending the season. Both Jeremy and Peta are either past or present representative players having represented their state at the Australian National Titles and other interstate events and are more than happy to assist the right candidate with furthering their polocrosse.

The offer includes the provision of accommodation and board, a horse to play on, and all its upkeep as well as transport to and from each polocrosse tournament in Victoria and potentially the odd tournament in NSW and SA. In addition, Jeremy and Peta can assist with the coaching and development of the successful candidate.

In return the candidate would be expected to help around the property with the odd day-to-day tasks including feeding, rugging and unrugging horses and exercising horses daily. There is liable to be the occasional odd job around the farm that needs doing so some manual dexterity is required.

In addition Jeremy and Peta can offer the successful applicant 1 to 2 days paid work a week in their polocrosse racquet making business, although it is not a fulltime position, it would help with the spending money situation.

Anyone keen to experience polocrosse in Victoria is encouraged to apply, Jeremy & Peta are a easy going couple with 2 children “4 years and 6 months old” for further information or to apply please feel free to email Jeremy at .
Further information on Jeremy & Peta can be found at www.polocrosse.info/Pages/about_us.html.

July 2005

July 13 - Ive got a great friend who needs a "cheap" ( She is pensioner, like me & not very flush with cash) old polocrosse racquet & or ball. She is interested in getting into polocrosse but she wants to at least get proficient at handling the racquet & ball & getting her horse into the groove before approaching a polocrosse club & mixing with like minded persons. She is a quality person, just like all clubs need but because of her financial status she's feeling embarrassed.

I used to play polocrosse years ago but am now a quadriplegic & unable to help.

Thanking you in advance. Any advice or ideas greatly appreciated.

February 2005

February 25 - Craig,
Do you have any info that you may want to share on bringing a green horse through. I have picked up a couple of handy exercises from American cutting horse websites but have as yet not found any Polo Cross Sites with similar info specific to Polo Cross. Books are also not that easy to find.
Any info would be appreciated.
Kind Regards

February 19 - Hi
I was wondering if you had any attendants by the name of wayne (sorry cant remember last name.) We live in Perth and he(and his wife, young couple) purchased a jack russell puppy at the time called bambie. But finding her is now very important as in early 2004 we lost her mother to a tragic accident. Wayne said that he was very involved in polocrosse and in fact we delivered bambie to him a polocrosse day!! He had travelled the world/Australia (sorry cant remember) and trained animals to perform in the man from snowy river displays. If you don't know him could you please contact other associations with this message. Finding him is very important.
Regards
