December 2002

Dec 2 - Can you put this on the notices section please.

23 year old experienced equestrian in a variety of disciplines looking for work for a few months as a polo groom - in exchange for tuition. Experienced lacrosse player sampled the game and will pick it up easily. I am very hard working and willing to do any job really on a year out between uni and a MSc in Equine sport science.

Ideally want to work from January to April as off to Sri Lanka for two months to work in the zoo!

Really hope someone can give a new yet going to be talented player an opportunity to learn the game!

I am just after any information regarding renting a rural property next year for the polocrosse season.

Myself and a few others will be bringing over about 6 horses and are wondering if anyone had any information or knows of anywhere that will be available to rent. Anything around the Mornington Peninsula area would be fantastic!!
Could any relevant information please be forwarded to the below address.

Sept 12 - To whom it may concern,

I am a twenty-two year old active female wanting to gain employment in a Polocrosse stable. I have been around horses for eighteen years and have had experience as an eventing groom in England, as well as professionally showing Riding Ponies throughout my teens.

I currently reside in the Eastern suburbs of Adelaide and would prefer to remain in South Australia. Currently I have taken a year off my university studies to work in the agricultural or horse industry and hope that you may be able to provide me with some information as I am an adventurous rider and would love to be involved in the sport.

Thank you for your time

Sept 2 - Just a vote of support for you poor buggers in Zim. News makes it sound terrible. In W.A. we are complaining because it won't rain but it does not bear comparison. We have not heard from the Alexander family for a while, George and Cynthia stayed with us in Walkaway once, and we haven't heard from them for a while.

August 2002

Aug 26 - HELP PLEASE

At the recent International against Zimbabwe held in Sondela over the weekend, one of the Zimbabwe lady players, Anna Bekker, had a nasty fall while practising. She is in ICU, in a coma, at the Eugene Marais Hospital and she is very critical.

The R100 000.00 deposit that her parents put down for her has run out and on behalf of PASA I would like to make a plea to any polocrosse player out there who would like to make a donation towards her, to please contact Wessel Strauss on +27 82 4901756 or deposit into the PASA account and mark the deposit slip clearly "Zim Fund" or "Anna Bekker Fund" when you fax through to me on +27 33 3456049.

Aug 19 - I am enquiring as to whether you would be aware of any polocrosse training schools in South East QLD. I remember seeing about one on the TV this year but was unsure of its whereabouts. My daughter and I are only beginners but would be keen to pursue the sport if there was an opportunity to learn at a school or clinic if there is such a thing.
Thanks

Mar 27 - Hi There

My name is Garth Pereira I am 19 years old and I am coming to England for a gap year. I have played Zimbabwe U14 for 2 years, U16 for 1 year and U19 for 1 year. I have no where to stay and am seeking accomodation for any work avaliable. I would love to get involved with your club if you think I would be suitable to either coach or just play for your club, I can bring a letter from the president of Zim Polocrosse Association.

If you know of any other club who may be able to help me out please contact me at as I have arranged to come over on the 26 April 2002 and the accomodation I had arranged has fallen through.

Thanks in advance

Mar 26 - To whom it may concern,

We are only about 4 weeks out from our first Carnival and our 12 year old son's horse has been ruled out for the season with a leg injury. He is bitterly disappointed to say the least as this would have been only his second season. As with all of us in the sport, the rising cost is strangling us and this close to the beginning of the season it will probably be impossible for us to find him a horse to play on. If anyone may have a contact we can follow up on that may lead to a suitable horse, we would love to hear from you and would be truely grateful.

yours sincerely

Mar 23 - G,day Craig,

I've heard along the grapvine that there could be positions available in the Polo X section (eg for Grooms). I am from Darwin NT Australia. My main sports were Showjumping and Polo X however no longer play either, due to work commitments that often take me away.

I am currently looking into applying for my dual passport (my father is from Manchester) and I am also in the process of planning a trip to the UK. I would love to find out more information regarding the groom positions I've heard about. I would appreciate any info you could send me re: this. I can be contacted on this address Kelly Baylis

Mar 12 - Hi,
I am hoping to find news of a horse I sold in 1993, to a New Zealander who was promoting polocrosse in South of England, based at a polo club in Surrey.

"Tess" or Pesky Yestereen would be 12 now, 15hh dark bay mare with half-moon star and farmkey brand KK20. Thoroughbred x Quarterhorse, registered with BQHA.

Any news - good or bad - would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
