Co.Wexford based Horetown Polocrosse Club are celebrating 20 years of Polocrosse and have planned a major calendar of events to mark this occasion. Known as both the home and the birthplace of Polocrosse in Ireland, the sport has now developed with eight clubs nationwide and being recently affiliated to Horse Sport Ireland.

The club wishes to celebrate this momentous occasion by carrying out a number of events, in order to publicise polocrosse as well as a campaign to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis. The club will be promoting a Donor Card Carrying awareness programme for all club members and players around the country.

Horetown Polocrosse Club hosted a very successful demonstration match at this years' Co. Wexford Agricultural show in association with the Oylegate show, which took place on Sunday 30th May. The club staged an exhibition match at this event, showing how the game is played and what is required of players and horses, and hopefully proved that anyone can give the game a try! To co-ordinate with the demonstration match, the Irish Polocrosse Association have commissioned the Horetown Club to produce a promotional film. This will then be used to bring publicity to the sport and will help any potential players understand what is expected of them.

The club held their annual tournament on the 5th and 6th June, this was a great weekend with 2days packed full of exciting polocrosse! The next tournament we have to look forward to is on in Clonmel on the 19th and 20th June. Spectators are more than welcome, so come along and have a look at all the different grades playing.
