Fundraising Auction

The Yass Polocrosse Club with the help of businesses and enthusiasts will be conducting an auction to be held in conjunction with the Southern Highlands Polocrosse presentations on 6th September 2008 at the Southern Star Inn, Goulburn.

The auction is a fundraiser for Karen Brown who had an unfortunate on-field collision in June and sustained serious injuries.

For many that might not know, Karen has worked as a trek guide in the Snowy Mountains on and off for the last 20 years. The June/July issue of the RM Williams Outback magazine ran a feature story on the High Country with the opening piece on Karen and her time as a trek guide. This was published before her accident and is definitely worth the read. Upon discovering the story I have contacted RM Williams, which has resulted in Jay Pringle, from their marketing area, donating items to be auctioned on the night. Jay will also personally attend the night, compiling an article about the auction and Karen's progress. This will be published in the October/November issue of the Outback magazine.

Also earlier in the year, Travel Oz, a tv program on ABC, had featured a story on Reynella Kosciusko Rides, with whom Karen is employed as a trek guide. The story is scheduled to be aired next Wednesday 27th August on ABC at 6pm (check your local guide just in case).
