August 2000 The Adelaide Polocrosse Club in affiliation with the Lobethal Sport and Recreation Centre are about to embark on the ambitious project of developing Polocrosse playing fields at Lobethal. The new playing fields to be known as The Adelaide Hills Equestrian Centre will be made available for all equestrian sports, under the administration of the Adelaide Polocrosse Club, and will bring Polocrosse to a venue that is much more accessible for Adelaide spectators. A large tract of land alongside the existing Lobethal Sports and Recreation Centre is about to be transformed into playing fields. The site will provide a natural amphitheatre and afford viewing of up to four playing fields from raised vantage points. Weather permitting, the bulldozers will move on site by spring, to level the first three playing fields. The full plan for the site encompasses not only the playing fields, but also provision for the necessary yards, sheltered camping grounds and a fourth playing field or warm up area. Additionally, a clubroom and implement shed will be built, adding to the existing facilities provided by the Sport and Recreation Centre clubrooms. The Adelaide Polocrosse Club has an enthusiastic committee directing this exciting development. With plans well under way, the club is optimistic to be playing season 2001 on their new home fields.
