Equine Influenza Update

Biosecurity Queensland, Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F), advise the state-wide equine standstill remains in place in Queensland. For information on movement restrictions within Queensland, or to or from Queensland, please visit www.dpi.qld.gov.au.

Infected Premises In Queensland

As of 4 pm Thursday, there are five confirmed infected premises in Queensland. All existing outbreaks in Brookfield, Kenmore Hills, Rosewood, Warwick and Minden represent traceable sources of infection. In all these locations a known source of the infection exists.

There are currently no unexplained outbreaks of Equine Influenza in Queensland.

Adherence to recommended bio-security measures on the DPI&F website represents the best protection against the spread of Equine Influenza in Queensland.

DPI&F Field Staff deliver safety message to high risk areas

DPI&F field staff have delivered 'Stop the Spread' information to residents during a door knock campaign in Kenmore Hills and Brookfield today.

Practical information delivered by officers relates to assisting residents understand the disease situation and raising public awareness. The informaton delivered included messages on preventing Equine Influenza infection arriving at properties, protecting horses and best decontamination practice for residents and their vehicles.

Thank-you for reporting suspicious symptoms

Biosecurity Queensland is busy undertaking trace backs and following up reports of horses with suspicious symptoms. Thank-you to everyone for your vigilance in reporting these suspected cases. Please continue to contact the DPI&F Call Centre on 13 25 23.
