Australia will play the United Kingdom for the 2007 World Polocrosse Cup tomorrow (Sunday 29 April) at 2.30pm, but the host nation was fortunate to make the final after a close-fought game against South Africa in their semi-final. The world cup decider will be played at Morgan Park, Warwick on Queensland's southern downs.
Defending champions Australia led South Africa 10 goals to 4 after chukka 3, but the visitors fought back to make it make it 17-16 by the end of chukka 6. Chukka 7 went goal for goal before Australia dominated the eighth and ended up ahead 24 goals to 19. Earlier the United Kingdom booked a spot in tomorrow's final against Australia with a surprise 28-18 win over the more-fancied New Zealand. The final will cap a momentous week for United Kingdom polocrosse, because it has this week been awarded the 2011 World Cup. Damp conditions failed to effect crowd numbers or enthusiasm.
