Adelaide Polocrosse Club

If you are into horses, like competition and enjoy a challenge, then polocrosse could be the sport for you.

Adelaide Polocrosse Club will hold a "Come and Try" day at its Lobethal grounds on Saturday February 10, 2007.

"Polocrosse is fast and fun; it's a combination of polo, lacrosse and netball," said club President Darren Hochuli.

"The aim of the game is to score goals and that sounds simple enough, but to achieve that requires team work, horse skills, strategic thinking and a high level of ball skills."

A polocrosse team comprises six riders divided into two sections of three. Each section plays alternate chukkas. A game is usually four chukkas but can be six or eight.

Mr Hochuli said that the club saw enormous value in promoting the game to potential new players.

"All sporting clubs benefit from new members who will represent the club at higher level competitions as they learn and improve their skills," he said.

"I hope that many of the riders who come along to try the game will be hooked on the sport and become interested enough to compete in the club colours."

What's on offer?
People wanting to come and try polocrosse on February 10 will be provided with tuition prior to a chukka competition where riders will be placed into teams of three to see how many goals they can score in a chukka.

What to bring?
Participants will be required to bring their own horse, tack and an approved helmet. Polocrosse racquets and balls will be provided on the day. A BBQ and salads and soft drinks will be available.

What does it cost?
The cost of playing is $15 for adults and $5 for juniors plus $20.00 to cover insurance on the day.

Where is it?
The APC grounds are at Lobethal - entry is via the football oval gates.
