Adelaide Polocrosse Club put in a strong performance at the 2007 season opening tournaments held at Naracoorte in the State's SE on January 6/7 and 13/14, competing against 30 South Australian and Victorian teams.
Club President Darren Hochuli said he was pleased with the contingent of Adelaide players who travelled to Naracoorte. "It was a terrific start to the season with the club represented in all grades over the two weekends with one A Grade team, two B Grade teams, a C Grade team, a D grade team and two E grade teams," he said. "The D Grade team performed well over both weekends just losing the final in the first tournament and winning the final in the second tournament. "An E Grade competition was held for the first time for new players and juniors and Adelaide, comprising local hills riders (Caitlin White, David Heyneman, Kate Hochuli, Ruth Llewellyn and Kaye Noske) won its finals on both weekends." Mr Hochuli said Adelaide's seasoned players had improved significantly under coach Tony Astbury and a number of new players had join the club. "The club is in a position of strength and I am confident that we will put the pressure on the visiting teams when we host our tournament in March," he said.
