I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your support of our newsletter since I became publicity officer some nine years ago. I have enjoyed immensely putting this publication together and getting "the news out" to the polocrosse community.
However, I will not be standing for re-election at the AGM on 20th October as I believe it is time this newsletter has a fresh start with a new editor.
Thank you for your kind words over the years and I look forward to seeing you at the Nationals.
With warmest regards, Odette Neumann

Women and Girls in Polocrosse Committee
Earlier this year the PAA established a Women and Girls in Polocrosse Committee - Bev Hughes (former Australian Representative, A Grade Player & National Selector); Alison Mathie (World Cup Squad Member and A Grade Player); and me.
The PAA realise to strengthen the great game of Polocrosse, and to ensure long term success of our sport we need to increase participation, this means developing and implementing strategies to achieve this - the PAA need to attract, retain and increase Women and Girls participation in all aspects of Polocrosse. People in leadership and decision making roles in Polocrosse influence the associations polices and directions. Without equitable representation at these levels Polocrosse cannot take full advantage of the leadership skills, opinions and experience of women, nor can it hope to adequately reflect women's needs. Less women involved in Polocrosse means that womens decisions only have a limited impact on the game as a whole.
So to help Bev, Alison and myself develop a full understanding of any issues that impact on women's participation in Official, Playing or Leadership roles we have enlisted the support of Dr Duncan Murray from the University of South Australia to help us.
We would love if you would attend a Focus Group led by Dr Murray to discuss Polocrosse and the Issues that impact on your participation.
Date: Tuesday 3 October 2006 Time: 10.30am & 1.00pm (choose a time that suits you) Venue: The Nationals! When Dr Murray returns to South Australia he and his team will then develop a Questionnaire that will subsequently be distributed amongst our members.
At the end of it all we hope to have a clear understanding of the issues that impact on you. It will help us develop strategies to improve and facilitate retention and identify pathways that may assist Women and Girls in Polocrosse.
