Horetown’s Men, Aidan and Seamus McDonagh and David Young have done it again! The National Polocrosse Finals were held in Birr Equestrian Centre, Co Offaly last weekend 2nd & 3rd September. Teams from all over Ireland converged to try to claim the title of Champions in all seven grades ranging from A grade down to Primary Juniors.

The games began on Saturday morning in the pelting rain but nobody was concerned with the weather as they were focused on their games and performing to their best.

The A Grade Team of Seamus & Aidan McDonagh and David Young met Carrickmines, Dublin namely James Smyth, Avis Watton and Julian Chambers in their Final. The first chukka was extremely close with each goal seeing a counter attack. Mid way through the second chukka, Seamus had to visit the ambulance with a leg injury but got back on his horse to continue with their crusade. This effort seemed to lift the teams spirits even further and with some amazing pickups, steals and goals the trio finished the game with a scoreline of 9 – 7. A record 7th time, this team has won the title of A Grade National Champions.
