Yesterday at Lynnwood Ranch, Aldersyde, Alberta; David Melnyk announced the 7 Canadian members of the World cup Squad that will representing Canada in the 2007 Polocrosse World Cup in Warwick, Australia.

Tensions were high as champagne was readied and Canadian Shirts were laid out for those contesting for the 7 positions. There were 4 ladies positions with 6 contesting and 3 men positions. An international player will be asked to play for the 4th and final position on the men’s team.

These men and women have been training for 2 years and competing in multiple national and international tournaments. They have sacrificed family and friends to become members of this squad. And to further their commitment, they are going to Australia, to ride the finest Polocrosse horses in the country and to play the best game in their lives, all for the glory of Canada.

Congratulations to the ladies: Lesley Plant of Calgary; Pam Bergen of Aldersyde; Kayla Hicks of Millerville, and Jacquie McArthur of Okotoks.

Congratulations to the gentlemen: Al Hicks of Millerville; Sean McArthur of Okotoks, and Kris Miller of Blackie, Alberta.

Thank you Bruce Greenslade for your assistance in coaching, training and picking this fine selection of men and women to represent us.

Polocrosse is known as the King of the One Horse Sports. It is played here in Alberta at the “Field of Dreams” in Aldersyde, Alberta. Best described as Lacrosse on Horses, it is a skilled combination of horsemanship and racquet, played 3 on 3, on a large grass field from April to October. Our members pride themselves on their ability to have fun and excel in their game at the same time. Our moto is simple but to the point…. Polocrosse is not a sport…. It’s an addiction.

Please keep track of our progress in the months to come by checking our web site at www.polocrossecanada.com, or even better, come out and see us… join us for a chukka or two!!!
