The PAA held it's Annual General Meeting in Canberra on the weekend of 27-28 May. Congratulations to Gill Mathie who was elected as Vice-President to the Board.
On Saturday afternoon the Board heard a report from Les Fraser, Chairman of the World Cup Organising Committee, on the progress of preparations for the 2007 World Cup. Nominations have been received from the eight IPC affiliated countries, namely: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, USA and Zimbabwe. There is also interest from other countries, in particular Zambia and France who wish to participate in some way.
Les spoke about the major sponsor for the event, Ridley AgriProducts, and outlined their commitment to the 2007 World Cup. Les also listed the other major sponsors and their contributions. Seating capacity around the main arena will be increased from the current 1,500 to approximately 5,000.
As always, the event would not be possible without the supply of horses. For the 2007 event a total of 200 horses will be required. Les remarked "this is the biggest recruitment of horses in Australia during peacetime". What a catchphrase!
As for the 2003 World Cup, ASH registered horses are being sourced from all over Australia. There are huge incentives for horse owners whose horses are selected for the World Cup. An information sheet and Horse Form are available from the Australian Horse Co-ordinator Kent Wells on (07) 5463 5771 or 0414 742 112. NOTE - inspection of NSW horses at Club Championships, Maitland on 10/11 June.

This package will list all Australian Stock Horses registered for sale at the World Cup. It will also set out quarantine requirements and contacts; transport requirements and contacts and any other information which is relevant for exporting horses to those countries. The object is to assist potential overseas buyers in expediting the purchase of an ASH whilst in Australia.

Polocrosse hits the airwaves
The Zone Carnival was promoted in a five minute "Bulletin Board" discussion on Saturday morning. ABC radio presenter Rod Quinn is quite knowledgeable about polocrosse and between the both of us we were able to get the message across that this is an exciting spectator sport.
On Sunday morning the ABC's Rural Reporter, Kim Lester, visited the grounds and conducted a pre-arranged live interview with Neville Gilpin. Neville's wealth of experience both with polocrosse and horses came through loud and clear. Well done Neville.
Kim was then introduced to a typical polocrosse family, Rod, Jenny, Fay, Ella and Riley from Burradoo. Kim recorded interviews with the Edwards family which went to air in her Rural Report on Tuesday May 30th. Kim also spoke to Kent Wells about the World Cup and horse requirements - both were excellent interviews.
