On the 1st and 2nd July Northern(Black), Central (Orange)and Southern (Green) Provinces came together to thrash it out in the Zambian Nationals held at Lusaka South Country Club. This is the first ever National competition and was a great success. The event was well organised by Anthony Barker and his team and a special thanks is due to Seed Company who sponsored the tournament. Their Chairman, Hon. Chance Kabaghe M.P. was there to present the prizes.
A Division was taken by Northern Province
B Division by Central Province
The overall cup went to Central Province.
Two under 16's teams competed in the nationals and played in yellow and blue. Yellows came up trumps played by Jochem Elsinga, Lenore Finnaughty, Daniel Nel, Brain, Candice and Kirsten Michelson.
The Blues were Henry Beckett, Lucy Beckett, Michaela Van Aardt, Louis Van Aardt, John Clements and Carla Nel.
Individual awards were as follows:
Best Pony— “What a Gem”—Murray Evans (South)
Best No 1—Zingy Cocker (North)
Best No 2—Craig Evans (Central)
Best no 3—Paul Sherriff (Central)
Best Junior player—Jochem Elsinga
