Club Sponsor Richard Maurovic was on hand to deliver a message of support and congratulate those players whose season was to be capped off by Best Horse and Rider awards. This year saw a clean sweep by the girls in the club, taking each of the grade awards.

The Junior Encouragement award was presented to Amy Hochuli of Woodside. Playing in her first season of Polocrosse at 10 years old, Amy held her ground against much bigger and more experience competition, and on several occasions won best defending player awards for her performances.

The D grade award was presented to Vanessa Rosback of Lobethal. Vanessa also in her first year in the sport had an outstanding season as the goal scoring player for her side. Her enthusiasm for the game ensures we will see Vanessa pushing to move up a grade in the new season.

The C grade award was won by Ebony Sherriff from Yorketown. Ebony enjoyed a fantastic season as a follow on to her D grade award success last season, and was selected to attend the elite junior coaching school at the Canberra AIS.

The B grade award was won by Emma Shultz of Lobethal. Emma had a successful year competing on a young horse new to the game, but which showed the maturity of a seasoned performer. Emma’s performances were noted throughout the season, bringing several Best B Grade Player awards.

The A grade award was presented to Sharyn Tilbrook of Waterloo Corner, one of the clubs most experienced riders. Sharyn’s versatility at playing any position on the field ensured she was in the thick of the action each game and noticed as a best performer.

The Jim Munroe encouragement trophy was awarded to local hills horseman John Hentschke of Eden Valley. John who is well known for his stock horse work played his first season for the Adelaide club, and has taken to the sport with great enthusiasm. John’s season can be characterized by his broad smile that was the trade mark of each game he played.

The final trophy, the George Lucey Perpetual Trophy, awarded to the most valued club person was awarded to Jodie-Ann Hochuli of Woodside. Jodie-Ann worked tirelessly in the organisation of home tournaments but still found time to saddle up and participate in the polocrosse on the field.

A great effort by all Adelaide players during the past season and a great deal of optimism and enthusiasm ensures that the Adelaide Polocrosse Club will be a strong and cohesive club in the coming summer season.
