Thanks for a lovely weekend Choma!

We have 110 registered players with the Zambia Polocrosse Association this year! We think our oldest player is 59 and youngest is 5 but stand to be corrected. Polocrosse is very much a family sport in Zambia. We have many siblings playing but there are 11 families with a parent/s and children playing this year. Many parents bite the bullet and start as they get fed up sitting on the sidelines and want to get in on the action. Amazingly enough some have never been on a horse in their lives but the excitement of chasing the ball overcomes their fears!!! Polcrosse is fun for all.

ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES!
I think that we are going to have to name this section "Where's Lolly?" as in the "Where's Wally?" Kids' books! Mr. Roberts seems to be forever in the wars and even so still manages to laugh about it with 9 stitches over his mug!!! And this was not even whilst on his horse this time!!! Mr. Lolly was so happy celebrating his Choma win that later on in the evening he forgot to put his hands out when he tripped on the edge of the verandah. There is more to this story but best to keep it under wraps! If anyone wants a photo - e-mail me! You can just imagine what kind of an evening was had, as Doug Evans disappeared only to reappear a short while later (about three in the morning!) bare back on his horse! He cantered up to the bar counter in the Choma club house and demanded "Give my horse a drink!!!" Only in Zambia folks.

LETTERS
Hello,
I have not been able to do polocrosse this season because I have decided to concentrate myself on swimming these last couple of months. I just haven't found the time to do polocrosse. I am going to move to Holland in a few weeks and I just wanted to say it was really fun to be able to do polocrosse. I have learned a lot, thanks Tors, thanks Rachel and Boyd. Beside the riding lessons I have a lot of great memories which I will remember for the rest of my life, like the feeling of galloping across the field with the ball and bouncing it across the line and then scoring a goal. The competitions, the match in Choma but also the time I broke my foot (which is not great fun but thanks to Rachel’s father everything turned out fine). All this will go with me to Holland and I will still remember it, although I will not be able to do polocrosse in Holland, because it is not played there. I wish you a very good season with a lot of victories for Leopards Hill and thanks again for teaching me polocrosse.

News from the past!! Letter from Chisamba!
I would like to get all the facts of Chisamba to you as we go back to the beginnings.
We had the first tournament at Fringilla when the likes of Andrew Howard and Mark Jellis could barely ride. ( Like all of us ) I have most of the first tournaments on video which would bring back many memories. Our main players were, Marian Ross, Peter Castle, Eran Wilson, Simon Burgess, Rika Wilson, Charlie Harvey, Andrew AND Julie Woodley, Mrs Castle. We spent most practices with only 3 players. The first time Zimbabwe was involved was when Eran and Rika Wilson and Andrew and Julie Woodley went down to a family tournament in Lions Den and played, did not do to well. We then invited 2 players, Craig Schulz and ???? ???? ( Will get name later) and they came and played for Chisamba at Leopards Hill and we had the upper hand. I can try and get all the dates for you if any off this interests you. I think we would love to have more info! Thanks Andrew!
