The Sponsor's Tournament!

Brilliant weekend! Well attended and enjoyed by all.
10 full teams and 9 D div / child sections competed. All were mixed club teams. Runners up were Omnia - Torben Laugesen, Yochem Elsinga, Katie Sharp, Louis van Aardt, Kirsten Michellson, Siobhan Watson. The winning D div / Child section was won by CHC with Silky Van deventer, Deborah Stark, Marinelle Myburgh and runners up were Sheiling Stars - Scott Rockafellow, Aimee Van Vlaandren and Jamie Henderson. Best adult player went to Lou Henderson and best child to Deborah Stark. Biggest Mouth went to Paul Myburgh for his vocals on the PA system, Biggest Strirrer went to Derek Van Aardt, (and he wasn't even playing!) Best fall - The big "cat in the hat" type hat went Paul Treager but was then kindly passed on to young Maddie Nicolle who claimed that her fall was better off her tiny pony. She also had a bigger bandage! Best Umpire - Scholtz Nel. Best turned out team went to Amanita who were kitted out in Red and white - very smart! These were Tors Coventry, Vicky Sharp, Jane Snart, Alan Watson, Altaf Patel and Paul Treager.

Get your kit and tents ready!
Choma's Next!
May 6th and 7th

Choma is 3 hours drive south of Lusaka on the road to Livingstone.
Although Choma is a small town situated in the farm area, this is in fact where polocrosse was first experimented with in Zambia so we hear.
Although most prefer to camp (and party!) by the field there are other places to stay in Choma, so if you are not one for "roughing it" you had better book early for the following lodges:
Kozo Lodge 03 320430 / 097 745583 / 095 619665
Gwembe Safari Lodge: 03 220169
For more info on the tournament call Lilo on 097 770 345.

Look's like it's going to be chilly so don't forget your horse blankets!

Horse Insurance
Alexander Forbes is offering a very special Insurance deal. If you would like more details, please call Ali of Alexander Forbes on 238961/ 232013-15 or 097 659949

ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES!
Letter from Lolly in Livingstone....First Blood of our Season went to me!!!!! So now my usually very good looking features have been marred by being head butted by my own horse who was avoiding another horse in a melee!!! The result is a very grumpy not so good looking Lolly with a septic lip. (I managed to bite straight through my bottom lip, on impact!!!)
and I thought that this column was supposed to hold "funny" stories - ouch!

Tack and riding gear
Tors Coventry - 097 782167 (Tors has informed us that she has just received new stock)
Heather Asherwood - 096 436344
Liz Wienand - 096 758749

What to name a new foal?
Here's another interesting site for all you new foal owners. Go to www.jockeyclubsa.co.za click on "names register" under the "Publications" column on the left and there you can check if the name you plan to call your foal is not already taken. Just enter the new name in the box and it will tell you how many/if any, have been registered in this name. (Thanks to Lolly for this info.)

WORLD CUP POLOCROSSE AUSTRALIA 2007!
Don't forget about the world cup in Australia in April 2007. A few of us are keen to go and if we get a group together we can get a special deal through Travel Shop. If you are keen to come along, get in touch with Stacey or Malcom at Travel Shop on 097 716935
