Outcome of my Polocrosse Tournament in aid of the Zambian Police Horses
The weekend was very colourful with teams of Ballerinas, (even the men were dressed up!) Fairies, Knights, Power Puff Girls, Ninja Turtles, Vegetables, Adams family and many more raced up and down the field on horse back after the bright fluorescent polo-crosse ball!
It took a while for the poor horses to get used to the freaky outfits!
It was a great weekend and very well attended. There were 69 players in all split into 9 teams of 6 players and 5 sections of 3 children's teams.
The profit made from the tournament fees, bar and raffle came to K 11,637,000! ( in dollar terms at the rate of the day = USD $ 2586.00)
Thanks to all who made this possible - sponsors and spectators alike. This is to be spent on necessary tack, equipment and any medication required for the police horses.
Apart from the tournament proceeds, I have also been looking for on-going sponsorship of feed, veterinary assistance, straw and saw dust for the stables. Through this, Amanita have pledged that they will donate a monthly supply of horse feed and Fred Joe has donated wood shavings. Thank you to you both!
As a lot of wood shavings / sawdust is required on a regular basis I am appealing to more companies to assist with this, as the horses are sleeping on bare concrete floors.
If anyone else can assist in any way at all, please contact me (Lauren) on:
or phone 097 565-896 or 260-313.
